THE HISTORY OF HOW MY MOTIVATING OUTREACH BEGAN:

1) My Gospel Pianist Mom invited me to accompany her when she visited people who were sick and shut-in at their homes during the week, where she always brought a delicious home-cooked meal. On Saturday afternoons, we went to Nursing Homes. I would brush and comb the hair of female patients and polish their nails if they desired it. Some of the people we did not know. Others were members of the church where my Dad was the Pastor, and many of the people were not even religious.

My Mom had a caring, sharing heart and a philosophy that she often reiterated. She explained that if I get sick when I am older, there are no guarantees that my family will take care of me. But if I visit the elderly, share with the poor, and look after the sick, I can rest assured someone will take good care of me. Naturally, I continued to pay it forward in unique ways using my creative gifts.

2) He did not know about my program or me. Yet, on the night of his Inauguration, Mayor David Dinkins pleaded with citizens to assist him in alleviating drugs, gangs, guns and suicides that were presently infiltrating and devastating New York City Public School Students, so I joined the fight. As a Songwriter, I had many positive lyrics, and my friend PR Tubbs had instrumental tracks. Once I developed a theme and completed the proper paperwork allowing me to visit schoolchildren through the New York City Board of Education, I founded NUVISION, a Self-Esteem/Drug Prevention Show. My focus was on ages 7-14.

Concerning the music, I spoke with the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists Union Contractor, the late Wayne Garfield. He said regardless of the subject matter of a song, it is all about the drums. Create a beat that children love, and they will internalize the song. Later, I learned that he was correct! 

​

I invited 4-extremely gifted peers (Premik Russell Tubbs, Ebony Diaz, Keith Walcott, and Sam Harkness) to join me. We shared a message of love and respect -- for self, all others, and the environment. Through longtime family friend George Khaldun, we were booked on a 3-week tour of Bermuda to communicate the positive program with every Primary School Student on the Island. Approximately 90-thousand people experienced NUVISION. Seven thousand parents, principals, teachers, and students wrote us letters of appreciation and requests. 

​

I was inspired to appropriately upgrade the program for all ages, beliefs, cultures, economic and educational backgrounds, and genders. Out of which came LIGHT, my new 33-minute One-Woman Music Motivation Show, and a follow-up book: The Practice Manual of Thoughts, Words, and Actions to Help Make Our Planet a More Loving Place to Live. 

​
